Tater Tot Toddle may look like just a little fleece wolf mini quilt, but he’s sure to give a big wolf growl of pleasure when wrapped around a cute toddler who matches his wild personality. The finished size is 25” x 36” (not including the ears and paws) and is completely made with fleece, including the applique designs. Adding applique to fleece using Therm O Web HeatnBond® Soft Stretch keeps it soft and stretchable. It is definitely made for a toddler to cuddle up with and howl at the moon if they so desire.

Wolf Mini Quilt Instructions:

Tips for fleece: Wash before appliqueing and sewing. When ironing on fleece it is important to cover it with a pressing cloth to avoid melting fleece or leaving marks from iron. Avoid applying too much pressure when ironing. Using a walking foot when sewing seams is recommended. Square up pieces as you go along, especially when using fleece because it can stretch out of shape when sewing and ironing it.

Trace applique designs on the smooth side of Therm O Web HeatnBond Soft Stretch.

Preheat iron to high heat, no steam. Place web adhesive on the wrong side of the fleece to be bonded (paper liner should face up). Place and hold the iron on the paper liner for 5 seconds. Repeat until entire surface is bonded. Allow to cool. Cut to size or shape needed. Peel off paper liner. Cover with pressing cloth and iron applique pieces, adhesive side down, to the right side of fleece.

Stitch around edges with a blanket stitch, zig-zag or straight stitch. Fleece doesn’t fray so a straight stitch can be used to hold it in place.

Baste raw edge on ears and paws to the front of the quilt on raw edges of the quilt. Make sure appliqued ears face down so they will be right side up when the quilt is turned inside out. Place fleece back and front sections with right sides together. Stitch around edges making sure to catch all edges leaving a 3” section open at the bottom for turning the quilt. Trim corners. Turn inside out.

Use Peel n Stick Fabric Fuse to hold opening closed. Blind stitch opening on the bottom of the quilt.
