Creating mixed media home decor projects is easier than ever, thanks to Therm O Web’s line-up of new Mixed Media craft sheets and adhesives. Paired with our new watercolor Deco Foils, you can create unique projects that look like they took hours to create, in no time. Let’s take a closer look.

To begin, gather your supplies:

You will need a #8 manila tag, a non-stick craft sheet, a water sprayer, and several colors of Distress Ink. I pulled out three colors of Distress that matched our beautiful new Emerald Watercolor Deco Foil Transfer Sheets.

Dab the ink onto your craft sheet, and spritz the ink liberally with water. Press the front of the tag down into the ink mixture.

Allow the tag to dry, or speed up the process with a heat tool. You can press the dry tag into the ink mixture again, if you wish, to darken the color. Mop up any remaining ink on the craft sheet with a 15″ length of crinkle ribbon. Allow both the ribbon and the tag to dry completely.

Using a junky old paintbrush ( I have one designated for liquid deco foil adhesive ) apply iCraft Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive to random areas of the tag, using an up and down motion only. Set the tag aside to dry until the foil adhesive is tacky, but does not come away on your finger to the touch.

Press a piece of watercolor Deco Foil Transfer Sheet onto the tag, with the colored side up and the silver side down. Gently rub over the foil using the tips of your fingers.

Peel up the transfer sheet, and check out your cool foiled mixed media tag!

Tear a strip of cork paper, and adhere it to the center of your tag. Trim off the excess from the edges. Apply a bit of Distress Paint over the cork.

Die cut a variety of flowers from the new Mixed Media craft sheets.

Dab yellow Distress ink onto your craft sheet, and spritz the ink liberally with water. Press the flowers into the ink mixture, and then set them aside to dry. Once they are dry, dab the centers of the flowers with Distress stain. And once again let them dry.

While the flowers are drying, assemble the base canvas. First, pin the tag to the center of the canvas using a memo pin. Gather a bunch of twigs and tie them together with hemp or string. Place them onto the tag. Wrap the crinkle ribbon around the tag and twigs, and tie the ends into a bow. Add a charm token to the bow. Using pinking shears, cut leaves from felt. Add machine or hand stitching, if desired. Tuck the leaves under the left side of the sticks, and adhere them with Mixed Media adhesive.

Using your junky paintbrush, randomly apply Deco Foil liquid adhesive to the centers of the flowers. Allow the adhesive to dry until tacky to the touch, and then apply watercolor Deco Foil Transfer Sheets to the adhesive. Once again, make sure you place the foil with the colored side up, and the silver side down.

Crumple the flowers in your hand. Stack several layers together, and adhere with Mixed Media Adhesive. Glue the flowers to the top of the stick cluster.

Enjoy!

Love your tutorial. I have ordered the fabric and can’t wait to receive it so it can make those flowers. Will definitely try the background technique with the glue and foil. Very interesting how everything worked together. Great job!

This could easily be adapted to a outdoor/country wedding. Tons of ideas from this one inspiration.
