Hi there! Alice with you today and it is great to be back!

I’ve been a BasicGrey fan ever since their debut so I was thrilled to learn that my first post since taking time off would be using their festive new Evergreen collection. This seemed like a good time to get a jump on holiday crafting by creating a mini album for documenting each day of December.

Alice-Golden-TOW-December-Daily-1

The foundation of the album is 110lb heavyweight kraft cardstock cut to 6″ x 8″ for regular pages and 6″ x 11″ for pocket or fold out pages. Keep in mind that these are just the foundation pages of the album – as the month of December progresses I will add photos, journaling, and additional embellishments. Each day has a two page spread, but since binder rings are used to hold the pages together, it will be easy to add more pages as needed.

The pocket pages are created using iCraft Adhesive™ tape. Fold the 6″ x 11″ page three inches in from one end, score, fold, and apply iCraft tape to the top and bottom edges of the flap. Peel off the liner to expose the adhesive and close to create the pocket. These pockets will be the perfect place for tucking memorabilia, or additional photos or journaling.

In addition to pockets, some of the wider pages were used to create fold out flaps. (I think it is fun to make an album like this interactive as someday I imagine future grandchildren peeking in the pockets and folding out the flaps to see what is inside).

iCraft adhesive and the new Deco Foils™ were also used to create metallic accents such as the border on these two pages as well as the medallion in the upper right corner.

To make the border apply a length of 1/4″ and 1/8″ iCraft tape along the bottom edge. Remove the protective liner to expose the adhesive on top and then press the iCraft™ Deco Foil shiny side up – on top of the tape and rub. Peel off the foil and the metallic coating will be transferred to the tape.

To create the medallion, die cut an iCraft Easy-Cut adhesive™ sheet into the desired shape, peel off the liner and then apply the iCraft ™Deco Foil as for the border. It is a bit hard to see in the photo, but in person the effect is striking.

The new Fabric Fuse™ Liquid glue was used to attach the bow to the tag. It dries quickly and stays flexible.

My old stand-by 3D Foam Squares were used throughout the album to add dimension, such as with the bird image below.

Therm O Web really does have an adhesive for everything – Zots™ for Bling are just the thing to hold teeny tiny rhinestones in place such as on Day 12

and on the cover.
