Deco Foil Metallix Gift Card Gift Bag

Hello Crafty Friends!! We’re back with another amazing day of projects showcasing products from our friends at Kindred Stamps!

Today Wendy has created the cutest gift bag… seriously amazing with our Deco Foil Metallix Gel plus some Glitz Glitter Gel! Wendy mixes things up and makes something new! Read on to be amazed!

Supplies:

Deco Foil Metallix – Black Ice

Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel – Black

Super Tape

Pixie Spray

Purple Tape

Ultra Bond

3D Foam Strips

Kindred Stamps Clear Stamps – Stay Golden

Other Supplies: Cardstock, die-cutting system and dies, spatula, black ink, Distress Inks and/or colored pencils, flowers and tissue paper.

Step One:

Die-cut your favor bag parts from desired cardstock and set aside. Mix equal parts of Metallix – Black Ice and Glitz Glitter Gel – Black together to create the perfect blend. I wanted the glitz and glitter of the gel but the mousse-like properties of the Metallix for a smooth finish. I have to say that I love the way it worked. The blend has both a metallic shimmer and a glitter sparkle!

Hint: Either of these products will work alone for this project; I just like to experiment.

Step Two:

Place the die-cut front of your favor bag on your work surface and layer a stencil over it.

NOTE: I recommend using Pixie Spray to anchor your stencil. You will note that I used purple tape (a great alternative) because I have had so much fun playing with the Pixie Spray that I am out of it! Pixie Spray is the best way to stick down a stencil without tearing your paper while removing.

Spread an even amount of the Metallix/Glitz blend over the stencil with a spatula (I spread only the bottom portion of my die-cut for visual interest).

Hint: In the absence of a spatula, a plastic knife or flexible emery board will work.

Step Three:

Remove the stencil to reveal the beautiful pattern you’ve created and set aside until fully dry.

Hint: To create an even more dimensional look to the stenciled area, use a heat tool to lightly heat and puff up the Metallix/Glitz areas.

Step Four:

Stamp desired images onto a mixed media or watercolor paper and color using your favorite medium. I used Distress Inks and Prismacolor pencils. I also stamped a few of the sentiments from the stamp set. This stamp set really is adorable. I used the Blanche and Rose images.

Hint: I always stamp at least two of each image in case I make an error coloring and need another. I hate having to go back and stamp again after I am at the coloring stage. If I don’t need the extra I put in my “pieces” bowl to use for a quick card later.

Step Five:

Die-cut or fussy cut your images.

Hint: When I fussy cut stamped images, I always use a black marker along the edges to give it a finished look.

Step Six:

Assemble your die-cut favor bag using Super Tape as I did or Ultra Bond if you prefer liquid adhesive. Embellish the front of your favor bag using your stamped images and some tiny flowers. I used 3DFoam strips to adhere my images and sentiment for dimension. Add a bit of tissue paper and this is the perfect way to personalize an impersonal gift card or gift of cash.

Hint: This would also be a great way to gift jewelry or other small gifts.
