Materials

Instructions

One: Cut the fabrics as follows

  • Main Fabric – Cut one 8.75″ by 30.75″, one 3.75″ by 30.75″, and one 9.5″ circle
  • Accent Fabric – Cut one 2.5″ by 30.75″
  • Craft Fusible – Cut one 14″ by 30.75″ and one 9.5″ circle
  • Lining Fabric – Cut one 14″ by 30.75″ and one 9.5″ circle

Two: Sew together the main fabric 8.75″ by 30.75″ rectangle, the accent fabric 2.5″ by 30.75″ rectangle, and the main fabric 3.75″ by 30.75″ rectangle with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press the seam allowances towards the main fabrics.

Three: Top stitch the seam allowances on the main fabric.

Four: Iron on the craft fusible to the back of the panel and to the main fabric circle.

Five: Measure down 2 inches from the middle top of the panel and sew 2 button holes.

Six: Sew the fabric in a loop, right sides together, with a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

Seven: Pin the main fabric circle to the fabric loop, right sides together, and then stitch with a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

Eight: Clip the seam allowance.

Nine: Assemble the lining by following steps 6-8.

Ten: Place the lining over the main fabric, right sides together, and top stitch with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Make sure to leave a 3 inch hole to turn the bag through.

Eleven: Turn the bag through the hole and place the lining in the bag. Press the bag.

Twelve: Top stitch around the top of the bag, sewing the hole closed.

Thirteen: Sew a line of stitches just slightly to the top and to the bottom of the button holes, making a casing for the ribbon.

Fourteen: Pin a safety pin to the end of the ribbon and feed it through one of the button holes so that the ribbon is in the casing.
