Hi there! It’s Gracie Chavez. Recently we -the design team- were challenged to create a papercrafting project inspired on a quilt block. I decided to try it out and came up with a faux quilted set of notecards. These were lots of fun to make so I hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Faux Quilted Cards with Therm O Web

Step 1. Cut 4 squares from different patterned paper sheets.
Step 2. Trim the squares into triangular quarters and then cut those in half into smaller triangles.
Step 3. Cut off a piece of the patterned triangles so that you are left with 2″ wide strips with an angled end.
Step 4. Use Memory Tape Runner XL™ to adhere 4 of the patterned pieces to a white card base, making sure to assemble them together in the shape of a pinwheel, placing the angled ends toward the corners of the card base.

steps1-4Step 5. Once the pieces are attached run the card base through a die cutting machine in an emobossing folder. The embossing gives the card front a quilted effect.
Step 6. Cut several Zots™ Singles • 3-D in half.
Step 7. Use the zots to attach the remainding triangular pieces to the center of the card in the shape of a bow.
Step 8. Cut the same size of triangular pieces from foiled cardstock and adhere underneath the previously attached pieces.
Step 9. Embellish the center of the bow with a rhinestone sticker of your choice.

steps5-8

To foil cardstock for the bow pieces easily and quickly, follow these steps:
1. Cut a piece of iCraft Easy Cut Adhesive™ Sheets • Lg
2. Peel the backing of the adhesive sheet and attach to a piece of cardstock.
3. Peel the remainding backing from the sheet.
4. Place a piece of Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheets • Silver Stars to the adhesive ready cardstock and burnish with your fingers.
5. Peel of the foil’s transparent backing to reveal your foiled cardstock.

You can use different colors of foil to give each card a different touch! I used Opal Deco Foil on one of the cards too!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial just as much as I enjoyed creating these cards. This technique is fun and easy so I hope you try it out too! Until next time!
