Hi there!  It’s Katrina from Paper, Scissors and Glue to share a spring themed layout using the new Deco Foil Flock.  And let me tell you, this flock is SO easy to use and there are so many different ways you can use it.  I kept it simple for my project today.  You don’t have to have a bunch of different products to use the flock.  You can just use it as it comes!  Genius, but also fun to have options to use the Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Deco Foil Foam Sheets as well!

Happy Spring – Let’s Roll Layout

Begin layout by prepping and cutting 3 inch squares from flock and pattern papers.  You will use the flock sheet as is, no transferring of the flock to another item.

Next, emboss and de-boss your flock squares using embossing folders of your choosing.  I used three different ones, since I had different colors.  To have some of the designs raised put the flock square flock side up in your embossing folder and run thru your manual die cutting machine.  If you want some of the designs inlaid (de-bossed) into your flock, then you will place it flock side down and run thru your machine.

As you can see, I have a 2 squares of each color that are done opposite in the embossing folder.  Test with a piece of paper, just to make sure how you want your design to look on your square.

Putting Together The Layout

For the next step you will cut your squares in half on the diagonal.  Just line up one corner and then the opposite corner on your trimmer, hold in place and trim.  This will make them pretty close to even if you go slow and cut carefully. After all squares are halved then arrange them into a pattern you like for your background. Use one flock half square with one pattern paper square.

After you get a layout of patterns and squares that you like, then adhere them to your background paper with the Memory Runner XL.  At the same time, if you want to add some more dimension, you can rough up the edges of the patter paper squares for texture.

Continue to build and layer your layout with foam adhesive, including the Deco Foil Foam Adhesive, Gina K Designs Foam Tape and the 3D Foam Squares.  These will give you different heights of layers to add interest to your layout.

3D Foam Squares on the back of the pictures and the flowers in the opposite corners

Deco Foil Foam Adhesive on the mini label strips, just to raise them a little.  This is a good use for the little pieces you have left over.  So don’t ever throw those away!!  Get a little bowl, container etc and put your scraps in.  I use mine ALL the time!

To illustrate, you can see in the picture below the different heights of foam adhesive i used.

In addition, you can use Zots to hold small items in place.  In fact, you will see me cut mine in half a lot, when I grab the medium sized ones!  There are small sized Zots, but sometimes my desk is a mess and I cannot find them!  For the bow, I just cut the medium Zot in half and then rolled it a little to make it fit along the back of my bow.

One last close up to wrap this blog post up!  I love the flock with the dotted embossing folder. I cannot wait to try this for a card front!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope my layout got your into a spring mood, even if you have ice and snow!  Have a wonderful week and be sure to share your creations on Instagram and Facebook with us!
