Just a Little Country Mixed Media Tag“Just a Little Country” Mixed Media Tag

I love going to the pumpkin patch with my family.  My husband and I have taken the kids every year since our oldest actually wast a baby.  Since the kids have been able to pick out their own pumpkins, our rule has been that ‘if you can lift it, it is yours’.  Last year this had to be modified since the pumpkins the kids could lift were actually quite big.  LOL!  But it such a wonderful experience.  Hot apple cider, crisp fall air, caramel apples, BBQ for lunch…and just the right pumpkin.

Just a Little Bit Country Mixed Media Tag Instructions:

To start this project I took the stamp set ‘Scare Crows” and “Pumpkin Faces” by Brutus Monroe and stamped it using Raven Detail Ink and Alabaster Cardstock.  Then using a wide array of Zig Markers and a water brush I colored in my stamped images that I wanted.  After I got my images just the way I wanted them to look, I fussy cut them out.  Fussy cutting is something I really LOVE to do.  But if you don’t like to do so, a Scan and Cut can do the job for you.

Next I took my favorite “Painted Mixed Media Tags – Vintage Wood” and “Brutus Monroe Foil Transfer Sheets 6″x12″ Sheets- Sunrise”, placed between two sheets of printer paper and on setting #5 ran it through my Minc machine; twice.  Then I carefully peeled back my foil sheet.  Then using a sponge I rubbed on my tag Brutus Monroe Surface Inks “Suede, Jack O Lantern, Macchiato, Maple and Terracotta” in circular motion.  I heat set with a heat gun every so often.  I also ran along the edges with the ink pad also.  Doing both these techniques gave me the distressed, layered look I was going for.  I added a stamped words in a few places,  washi tape and clear crackle paint.

Then it became time for me to assemble my tag.  I started with the NEW iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive to attach my back pieces of the cornstalks, then the sisal.  This glue was amazing, it not only dried clear but quite quickly too.  And was able to hold the project together quite well.  When creating this project you want to work from the back forward and layer so that the final project has a 3D appearance.  Next using the 3D iCraft Foam Squares I attached my pumpkins, scarecrow and fence.  Then I used the Zots small to attach the little crows. I had some wording stickers to tie the pieces together.  Lastly, on the two bottom corners, I attached a “Glittle Dust Photo Corners- Gold’.

This project is the perfect way to remember going pumpkin picking.  Also was quite easy to do with just a few craft supplies.  You also can apply this technique to your favorite memory.
