Trio Of Merry Card Instructions

All of the cards are designed on the same basic principle, so the steps are all interchangeable.  The card bases are 5.5 x 11 inches, so the finished card is 5.5 inches square.  The pattern papers are all cut at 5.5 inches to cover the front of the card bases. The card stock that is foiled or flock is cut at 5.0 inches for all cards.  If you wanted, you could always make these on a smaller scale, but I knew my die was oversized and works with the card size.

First, cut 3 squares sized 5 inches out of Gina K Cardstock in White.  Next, for two fo them you will use the Deco Foil Transfer gel and stencils to create your backgrounds.  To make this easier, use Pixie Spray to hold your paper and stencil in place by lightly spraying the back of each and letting it dry for about 30 seconds. Apply the transfer gel, using the Stencil Pal and set these pieces aside to dry.

Begin the background for the purple card by ink blending Distress Oxide inks in Wilted Violet and Mulled Lavender.  You will want to let this dry for a short time, or you can also use a heat gun to speed up the process.  Once your panel is dry, then you can apply the transfer gel over the stencil you choose and set aside to dry.

After your panels have completely dried, about 30 minutes to an hour, then you start applying your flock and foil to your stencil backgrounds.  I used the laminator to transfer the flock and foil to the transfer gel.

For the pink flocked card, I did something a little different.  I first flocked the card and then ink blended over the background after it was flocked.  I wasn’t sure if it would work, but it did!  I tested colors of Distress Oxide inks before I went to blend on my background, to make sure the color would work with the plain white and then over the colored flock.

If you try this technique, some of the flock will rub off during the blending process.  There wasn’t a lot that came off and you cannot tell where it did, since the pieces were so small.  I referred to them as my “flock lint”!  LOL

Once you have your background completed, then add pieces of ribbon to them to make the backgrounds look like wrapped packages.  I LOVE ribbon on packages, so this is was my inspiration for these came from.

Apply your 5.5 inch squares of coordinating patterned paper to your card bases with the Memory Runner XL and then apply your ribbon wrapped backgrounds centered on your pattern paper, with 3D Foam Squares.

Finally to create your sentiment the basic technique is the same for all three cards.  Cut out three of the Merry die for each card.  The foiled Merry,  one layer will be cut from the Deco Foil Toner Sheets.  The flocked Merry one layer will be cut from cardstock that has had the Easy Cut Adhesive sheet applied to it.  The cardstock Merry will just be three layers of cardstock.

You will adhere all three layers for each Merry with the Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive.  For the flocked and foiled Merry’s you will first apply the flock or foil to the Merry and then adhere that layer to the two other layers you have adhered together.  This creates a chipboard type of sentiment for the die-cut.

Now, all you have to do is wrap them up for the holiday season to give!!  These cards would best be suited for hand-delivering, but if you wanted to mail, just make sure to put the proper postage on them!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!!!  Happy Holidays!!!!
