Butterflies and Wildflowers Mixed Media Plaque

Foil a piece of Deco Foil Toner Sheet with Rainbow Shattered Glass Deco Foil Transfer Sheet and die cut both of the solid butterflies from the Detailed Butterfly die set.  Apply a smooth layer of Copper Deco Foil Metallix Gel over a piece of kraft cardstock with your Stencil Pal and allow it to dry thoroughly (overnight is probably best as this is being die cut).  Once dry, die cut the detailed overlays from the Detailed Butterflies die set and adhere them over top the Rainbow Shattered Glass backgrounds, gluing them in place with Ultra Bond Adhesive.  Gently shape and round the wings as the adhesive dries and set aside.

Deco Foil Metallix Gel

Ink a piece of 5″ x 5″ cardstock with shades of green Distress Inks (Crushed Olive, Old Paper, Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters were used here), dipping and spritzing with water.  Dry thoroughly and then stencil with Copper Deco Foil Metallix Gel through the Deco Foil Pinwheels stencil.  Set aside to dry thoroughly.

Die cut florals from cardstock with the Wildflowers and Wildflowers #2 dies.  Watercolour the flowers with Distress Inks in shades of blue, pink and yellow and paint the stems green (Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose, Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Broken China, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint were used here).

Cut a piece of coordinating scrapbook paper to about 51/2″ square and adhere the Copper Metallix Gel stenciled background to it with your Memory XL Tape Runner.

Arrange the watercoloured wildflowers over top of the stenciled background, adhering them in place with Ultra Bond Adhesive and allow some of the stems to run wild over the bottom edge.

Adhere the butterflies over top of the wildflowers, fixing them in place with pieces of Gina K. Designs Black Foam Squares to elevate them from the background.

Add an easel die cut to the back of your plaque if desired for display and your Butterflies and Wildflowers mixed media plaque is complete.

In Flight Mixed Media Shadow Box

Cover a piece of kraft cardstock with iCraft Easy-Cut Adhesive.  Remove the backing paper from the Easy-Cut Adhesive and place a piece of Orange Deco Foil Flock Sheet on top (remember, flock side DOWN!).  Run it through your die cutting machine (or laminator on the cool setting) to ensure that the flock is well adhered and pull the backing paper off the Flock Sheet.

Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheet

Die cut the Layered Dragonfly and emboss it with the accompanying Texture Fades Embossing folder, emphasizing the embossed areas with brown Distress ink if desired.  Foil a small piece of Polka Dots Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheet with Lapis Watercolor Foil Transfer Sheet.

Die cut the wings only from the foiled Clear Designer Sheet with the Layered Dragonfly die and emboss them with the Texture Fades folder.  Cut the wings were they cross the dragonfly’s body and fold the excess under to form a little flap.  Add a piece of 1/8″ iCraft SuperTape to the folded under wing flap and adhere the clear wings to the flocked dragonfly body.

Trim the remaining orange flocked cardstock to about 6″ x 4 3/4″ and stencil it with Deco Foil Transfer Gel through the Deco Foil Swirls Stencil.  Allow the Transfer Gel to dry (about 1 hour) and run it through your preheated laminator with more Deco Foil Lapis Watercolor Transfer Sheet.

Make a little box from kraft cardstock 6″ x 4 3/4″ and about 3/4″ deep.  Before assembling the box, stamp the cardstock front and back with a script stamp and brown permanent ink for some interest.  Assemble the box and adhere the stenciled orange flocked background in place with your Memory XL Tape Runner.  Add some washi tape around the inside edges of the shadow box if desired and cover any gaps along the sides with blue glitter glue.

Stamp the ‘In Flight’ sentiment onto more kraft cardstock with black permanent ink and clear emboss.  Cut the sentiment into a banner shape and gently bend the banner for some movement, adhering it in place along the lower edge of the shadow box with a combination of iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive and Gina K. Designs Black Foam Squares.

Adhere the dragonfly on top, popping it up on a couple of layers of Gina K. Designs Black Foam Squares, and with that your In-Flight mixed media shadow box is complete.

I hope that you have enjoyed seeing how these Spring Deco Foil projects came together and that you have been inspired to try out some of the new Deco Foil Metallix Gels and Flock Sheets, they are so much fun to play with!  Thanks as always for stopping by today and happy creating,
