Mother’s Day is fast approaching, can you believe it? Today I have a Mother themed layout to share with you.

Mother’s Day Layout

This layout is about one of the many mothering hats I wear; swim mom. I could have chosen to scrap about being the kids’ chauffeur, their built-in home chef, the locator of all things lost, there are a whole host of things I do for these children as their Mother. The thing I enjoy most is being poolside with them; cheering them, supporting them and following in their journey’s as competitive athletes. And, what swimming layout would be complete without a little sparkle and shimmer in the form of ThermoWeb Deco Foil Metallix?!

Deco Foil Metallix

Deco Foil Metallix is available in six different metallic hues. If you want other colors, all you have to do is add mist to the White Pearl Metallix gel. Gather your pot of White Pearl, a mist in the desired color, a palette knife and a surface upon which to mix the Metallix gel and the mist. Scoop out some White Pearl Metallix onto the mixing surface, in this case, a plastic watercolor palette and then either mist or pour the desired color mist lightly over the gel. Begin with a small amount as it’s easier to add more. Once the color is there, you can’t remove it. Though you can add more Metallix gel. Be sure to mush the color around so as to saturate all of the gel and not leave any white streaks in the “puddle” of gel.

Once the gel is well mixed, you now have a colored metallic gel that is ready to be applied to your project. I used the same palette knife for mixing to apply the colored gel through a stencil. Look at that lovely shimmer! The Deco Foil Metallix gel retains all of that beautiful shine and dimension.

You will need to set this aside to dry before continuing with your project. I worked on other parts of the layout while this dried thus maximizing the time I had in my scrappy nook.

On this particular layout, the amended Metallix gel served as a background layer of waves to more die cut waves. Using iCraft Ultra Bond to adhere the cardstock over the Metallix Gel ensured that things weren’t going to move, shift or slide. Just a light hand is all you need and those elements aren’t going anywhere!

Being a fan of dimension on my layouts of not only the mixed media variety but in layers and slightly raised photos, the iCraft 3D Foam Squares are a great way of elevating one photo on your project, as I have done here with the photo on the right-hand side. Just the perfect amount of lift.
