Hippity, hoppity, down the bunny trail, Mrs. Bunny’s Easter Eggs Quilt is totally hopping with cute fabrics from Moda’s Spring Bunny Fun fabric line by Stacy lest Hsu and HeatnBond® Lite sheets for the applique adhesive. The colors and designs are just gorgeous! The bunnies on the panel are designed to be made into a doll, but I chose to use them as an applique.

Finished size: 40” x 50”

Quilting with Aurifil’s Clear Invisible Monofilament thread (#ITBC-1000) made it easy to stitch through different fabrics without changing thread colors. There are so many beautiful threads to choose from that will match the Spring Bunny Fun fabrics!

Mrs. Bunny’s Easter Eggs Quilt Instructions:

Using Aurifil’s 28 weight variegated thread (#4648) to blanket stitch around the applique pieces really made them stand out. Plus, the 28 weight thread with the monofilament thread created a stitch using my sewing machine that was similar to hand quilting. Not the same but pretty close!

HeatnBond® Lite, Iron-on Adhesive was used to applique the adorable bunny from designs on the Spring Bunny Fun preprinted panel. That cute bunny needed a ruffled skirt, of course, which was made from the additional prints on the panel.

There was no tracing needed for the 28 applique eggs because the HeatnBond® EZ Print Lite sheets were quickly printed on my inkjet printer.

EZ print lite sheets and printer

With four eggs on a page, it took seven HeatnBond® EZ Print Lite sheets that printed up in a flash!

Once the patterns are printed on the adhesive sheets, iron them to the wrong side of the fabric, adhesive side down, with a medium heat iron, no steam. Press for 2 seconds. Repeat until all surfaces have been bonded to fabric. Let cool. Cut out applique pieces. Peel off paper liners from applique designs and place applique shapes, adhesive side down, on right side of fabric on center block and border blocks as shown on quilt. Press and hold iron for 6 seconds on each section until entire piece is bonded. Let cool. Sew around edges using a straight, zig-zag, or blanket stitch.

My beautiful purple Oliso iron was a great color match for the Spring Bunny Fun fabric!

Finishing the quilt: Lay quilt backing with right side down on protective cloth or paper (to prevent overspray.) Spray wrong side of backing with Therm O Web SpraynBond® Basting Adhesive following manufacturer’s directions. Lay batting on backing and smooth to remove wrinkles and creases. In addition adding a pocket on the back for the sweet little bunny included on the panel is bound to make anyone smile.
