Hi all!!  Becca here from Sunflower Seams.  This week I am getting ready for a huge trip to across seas to meet my newest niece or nephew and couldn’t be more excited.  Since he/she will be born just a couple days before Halloween I made these adorable No Sew Halloween Onesies.  Any of them can be made for a boy or girl, let me show you how.

Ghost

  • Cut a rectangle of freezer paper about the size of your onesie and insert between the layers.  This will help keep the fabric fuse from sticking the front to the back.
  • Cut your ghost face out of the black felt.  I made two ovals for the eyes and a circle for the mouth but your options are endless.
  • Arrange the felt face on your onesie until you are satisfied with its placement.
  • Apply a layer of fabric fuse to the felt then press it into place on the onesie.
  • If you are making this for a boy you are finished.  To add a little girly flare, follow the steps below to make a cute little bow.

  • Take your 4 x 5 strip of fabric and fold the long sides in 1″.
  • Next, find the center and mark with a pin.  Fold the short ends in so that they overlap 1/8″ at the center.

  • Fold your 1.5 x 2.5″ strip of fabric in half lengthwise, creating a crease, and press. Take your raw edges and fold them towards the crease you made and press. Now fold the strip in half and press
  • While pinching the center of your bow piece together, use a small amount of fabric fuse to attach the small strip of fabric around the center of your bow.  Cut any excess on the small strip.  Fabric fuse the bow just above the eye.

  • Cut a rectangle of freezer paper about the size of your onesie and insert between the layers.  This will help keep the fabric fuse from sticking the front to the back.
  • Cut the ric-rac according to the size of your onesie. Cut one piece for the spine, 6 smaller pieces for the ribs, and 2 pieces for the arm bone. Use a lighter to seal the ends so that they don’t fray.
  • Arrange the ric-rac on your onesie until you are satisfied with its placement.
  • Apply a layer of fabric fuse to the ric-rac then press it into place on the onesie.  Using a small paintbrush to apply the glue will help to disperse it evenly.
  • If you are making this for a boy you are finished.  To add a little girly flare, you can add the same bow we added above.

Spider

  • Cut a rectangle of freezer paper about the size of your onesie and insert between the layers.  This will help keep the fabric fuse from sticking the front to the back.
  • Cut a circle from your black felt according to the size of your onesie. Then cut 8 pieces of small ric-rac for the spider’s legs. (Use a lighter to seal the ends so that they don’t fray.)

  • Place the circle in the center of the onesie (don’t glue it down yet.)  Arrange the ric-rac around the circle until you are satisfied with its placement.  You will want the ends of your ric-rac to be slightly under the circle.
  • Apply a layer of fabric fuse to the ric-rac then press it into place on the onesie.  Once all of your legs are glued down, you can then fabric fuse the felt circle to the onesie.

  • Attach the google eyes using a small amount of hot glue.
  • To create your bow, cut a small piece of ribbon about 3″ long and another just long enough to wrap around the center.
  • Make a loop, then bring the top of the loop down.  Wrap the small piece of ribbon around the center and fabric fuse to your spider.
