I love adding little touches around my home that add to the fun of the holidays that come around every month. Something fun to add to the joy of just being alive. And, when that little something is as quick and easy as this No-Sew Shamrock Banner, it’s even better! With some Heat n Bond Ultrahold and a little Fabric Fuse liquid adhesive, you will have the luck of the Irish in your home in no time!

And, if you would like the pattern for the rainbow wool applique pincushion, you can find the free tutorial on my blog.

No-Sew Shamrock Tutorial

Supplies:

  • Heat n bond Ultrahold Fusible Adhesive
  • Fabric for banner and shamrocks- I am using Blossoms basics in multi and Kisses in green, both by Riley Blake Designs. You will only need a 9″ square of both
  • 8 1/2″ square of Canvas to back the flags- I like how the canvas gives some body while maintaining some movement for the flags, but you could also use a medium or heavy fusible interfacing behind the flags.
  • Shamrock Banner pattern
  • Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive – not shown in picture
  • 3/8″ or 1/2″ ribbon for creating the banner

Preparing the fabric:

  1. Cut 2- 8 1/2″ squares of Heat n Bond Ultrahold.
  2. On one piece, trace the shamrock pattern.
  3. Fuse the shamrock piece to the wrong side of the green fabric. Set aside.
  4. Fuse the second piece of Heat n Bond Ultrahold to the wrong side of the flag fabric.
  5. Trim away extra flag fabric from the edges of the Heat n Bond Ultrahold. Remove paper backing from Heat n Bond Ultrahold.

Prepare Flags and Shamrocks:

  1. Fuse the flag fabric to the canvas.
  2. Cut out 9- 2 1/2″ X 2 3/4″ flags.
  3. Cut out the shamrocks along the traced line.
  4. Remove the paper backing from the shamrocks.
  5. Position the shamrocks onto the flag fronts and fuse them into place.

Finishing the No-Sew Shamrock Banner

  1. Line up your flags so they are 1/2″ apart from each other.
  2. Use a thin line of Fabric Fuse liquid adhesive along the top to glue to your ribbon. *note: be sure to leave a length of ribbon before gluing your first flag so you have some to hang the banner from.
  3. Continue gluing all the flags onto the ribbon, 1/2″ apart.
  4. Allow to dry.

Now you have a darling accent banner to accessorize your home! I love using candy to add a little seasonal fun as well. And my kids love it too because they get to eat it after the holiday is over!
