Instructions:

The pattern and instructions for this project are clear and easy to follow.  Start by cutting out the fabric pieces using the patterns provided and be sure to cut the interfacing ¼” less all around as instructed – Therm O Web’s HeatnBond® Fusible Fleece was used for this house.

Iron on the HeatnBond® Fusible Fleece to the wrong side of each cut out fabric piece and stitch the walls as directed.

Next, determine the shapes to appliqué and the fabrics to use for the door and window.  The large design fabric pattern was ideal to cut out these cute owl/pumpkin and cat/moon shapes as appliqué accents.  The window and door pattern were reshaped at odd angles around the original pattern lines to fit around other character designs.  Cut pieces of Therm O Web HeatnBond® Lite Iron On Adhesive to cover these shapes.  Iron on the HeatnBond® as directed and with the paper still intact, cut out the appliqué shapes.  Trace the windows and door onto the paper backing and cut these out as well.  Remove the paper and iron on the pieces to the house sides, front and back as shown.

Create the roof as instructed with a piece of HeatnBond® Fusible between a top and bottom layer of fabric.  At this time, the quirky chimney can also be made.  Two triangles and narrow fabric strips can be stitched, turned out, filled with a bit of polyfil.

Determine where the chimney will be on the roof and cut a small slit in the rooftop.  Insert the chimney bottom, open up the fabric below and stitch it securely to the roof with coordinating thread.

Machine stitch several times around the appliqués, windows and door at this time too.

Add black ric rac to the roof top without pinning by spraying cut pieces (1” longer on both ends for overlap) with Therm O Web SpraynBond® Basting Spray.  Press pieces onto the roof and fold over ends, then stitch across to secure.

Create a tag for added decoration and for a little extra sparkle, spray the tag, roof, front and back with Therm O Web Gold Glitter Dust™ Spray.

Just above the owl/pumpkin appliqué sew in the cute ceramic button.  Tie with natural hemp and black bamboo fiber and attach the stamped tag.

Begin filling the house with polyfil.  Near the bottom, this house also contains a small bag of plastic doll pellets to add some weight.  Complete the project by hand stitching the roof onto the top of the house as instructed.  Add any extra polyfil needed just before any final stitching of the roof.  This cute Halloween haunt is now ready to enjoy!
