AudreyPettit Thermoweb Elle'sStudio Pocket Tags3Pocket cards and tags are a fun alternative to the basic card design. They function just like a regular card, but have the added surprise of having removable, interactive tags. They are great for holding secret messages or journaling, and the pockets are even big enough to hold extra treats, too. Try adding photos to the pockets, or letters or mementos. You could even slip in a candy bar, or two.

Here’s a few quick and easy steps for creating your own.

For the card pockets, cut panels of patterned paper that are 7.5″ x 4.5″. Using a scoring board or bone folder, score the long 7.5″ side at 2″ and 5.5″.

Apply 1/4″ SuperTape™ along the inside bottom and along one outside edge, remove the protective liner, and adhere the pocket closed.

Using the Mini Tape Runner, adhere a journaling card to the front of the pocket. If you like a shabby chic finish, like I do, edge all paper pieces with brown ink first. Slip the circle punch over the top of the pocket, and punch a half circle notch.

Piece sections of the Lil’ Snippets: Labels and the Journaling Tags together to create the inner tags for the pockets. Since these tags will get some heavy use, adhere them with SuperTape™ for a super strong hold.

Adhere circle die cuts to the back side of the top right corner. These make great little handle pulls for the tags.

Cut long labels from the patterned paper and adhere to the center of the pocket. Add additional die cuts, using 3D Adhesive Squares to adhere the focal image.

Wrap twine around the bottom of the pockets, and add a bit of stitching to the tag tabs for extra re-enforcement. Slip tags into the pockets, and enjoy!
