Hi there, Chrissie here! I don’t know about you, but I love making handmade Valentine gifts for my kid’s classmates.  BUT I only love doing it when it’s quick and easy.  🙂 Since my daughter is in second grade and a total bookworm (which makes me as happy as can be), I decided to create some simple Valentine bookmarks for her classmates.  Using DecoFoil™ adds that extra pop that is perfect!

Quick and Easy Valentine Bookmarks Instructions:

Trim white cardstock to 2.75 x 6.50 inches.  Punch a hole in the top and corner round the edges.

bm1

On a separate sheet of white cardstock, add Easy Cut Adhesive to both front and back sides of the cardstock.  Run through die cutting machine, cutting out multiple hearts (in 3 sizes).  For this step I cut a ton at once to save time.

bm2

Peel off the release tape on the backside of the die cut hearts.  Position onto bookmarks where you would like them.  Next, I used tweezers since the die cuts are small (and sticky).  Press down into place.

bm3

Peel off the release tape on the top.  Press down DecoFoil™ onto the sticky die cut.  Use your finger to burnish the foil into the die cuts.  I did one die cut at a time so I could use multiple colors on one bookmark.

bm4 bm5

Stamp random Valentine type images and sentiments onto bookmarks.

bm6

For this step I flicked some ink onto one bookmark using ink and a waterbrush.  Next, I used an ink blending tool on the other bookmarks to add color to the backgrounds.  I kept the same color scheme for all three bookmarks that are sampled here, but made sure they were all slightly different.  By doing them all at once, it made making them quick and easy.  I like to create in an assembly line style when I have a good amount of items to make.

bm7

To create the tassel, I wrapped twine around my hand several times.

bm8

Then I tied it at the top and cut the bottom.  Then I simply tied it to another piece of twine that was strung through the hole of the bookmark.

bm9

That’s it! Easy peasy! These are great to place into a Valentine or inside a cute little goody bag.
