Happy New Year Therm O Web fans!  This is Jenifer here with you today to share a fun lap quilt I made using the wonderful Jennifer Jangles fabrics and an easy QAYG block.

When December came along I started getting a little overwhelmed with all of my unfinished projects sitting in boxes. There were a few of these blocks in there because I was trying out a new technique. And as life has it .. other assignments and projects got in the way and there they sat.

I knew I wanted to start the new year off with a clean slate.  So I finished one project a week and now have four finished quilts to show for it and to give as gifts. That’s a Win Win!!  Funny as my Daughter has claimed this one as her “Movie Quilt” to snuggle in and watch movies.

Quilting Tips:

I make a lot of projects through the year and I end up with a lot of scrap pieces of StitchNSew™ Sew in Fleece.  I don’t like to throw away the larger pieces but I didn’t know what do do with them either.  After thinking on what I could do with those…my solution was Quilt as you Go (QAYG).

Designer Maureen Cracknell has an awesome tutorial on how to get started.  My blocks finish at 9″ and the sashing is 2″.  This quilt is not very big and it is a perfect lap quilt size and a completely manageable project for a new technique.

Tip: Taking a picture of your blocks can help you see the big picture to find out if any of the same colors are touching. Snapping a few pictures can help with placement and also if you need to clean up your area you can easily put everything back into place.TooltipText

Quilting 9″ blocks is a lot easier than quilting a whole quilt, when I was ready to layer I used my SprayNBond® Basting spray to hold the back in place. Next,  I quilted 1/4″ on each side of my sashing and my quilt was done.

I hope you enjoy and find this a fun way to get started with your quilting for 2017!
