Brutus Monroe Shadowbox

Everything is “Shiny and Bright”.  I don’t know about you, but I find with spring comes a fresh view of the world.  I feel like I can do a million things all at once. With the sun setting later and later, seeing all of the brightenings of the trees and the fresh blooms on the flowers,  I just feel like opening all of the windows and letting fresh air come in. So I wanted to create a project to embrace this feeling.

To start off this project, I took a Graphic 45 Art Shadow Box and gave it three coats of white acrylic paint.  It’s important to let each coat air dry before adding the next. Using Brutus Monroe Raven Detail Ink, I then took a script stamp and randomly stamped the inside drawer of the box on all four sides.  Next, I took a pallet knife and applied Brutus Monroe Chroma Glaze Pearl with a stencil on the sides. For the top of the box, I used Brutus Monroe February Stencil of the Month and Brutus Monroe Chroma Glaze Pearl.  For the effect I wanted, I aligned the center of the short side of the stamp with the middle of the frame in each corner with plenty of the design hanging over and the glazed pattern bleeding right to the edge.

Next, I heated up my Minc machine on setting level 4 and ran a sandwich of cardstock, Deco Foil Toner Sheet, and Brutus Monroe Foil Transfer Sheets Purple Sketch between foil copy paper through the machine twice. I cut the piece to cover the window of the shadow box and put iCraft Easy-Tea Tape on all four sides. This attached underneath the inside of the window of the shadow box.  Using Brutus Monroe Not Your Mama’s Cardstock I die cut “Paper Rose Moroccan Square Layer 1”. I attached this by using iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive.

Although I had planned to add more elements to this shadow box, I thought simplicity was better.  This allowed the foil to just shine through the box and be bright.
