Hello, crafty friends!  I’m delighted to be back on the Therm O Web blog today!  I have two fall-themed, slimline cards featuring the Gina K. Designs Autumn Wishes StampNStencil products.

Autumn Slimline Cards

I kept my color palette limited on these cards, which really helps to convey the fall mood, I think.  I love the details you can add with the Autumn Wishes Stencil, especially that gorgeous, swirl motif!

For my first card I wanted to focus on the beautiful trees you can create with the Autumn Wishes StampNStencil line.  You can add leaves to the trees with either the stamp or the stencil, but I chose to do both.

Adding Flock to Stamped Images

I first stamped a row of trees with the Autumn Wishes stamp and then stamped the leaves in yellow, orange, and red.  I placed the Autumn Wishes stencil over each tree and spread Transfer Gel Blanco, slightly offsetting the stenciled leaves with the stamped ones for more depth and fullness.  Once the gel was dry, I used my laminator to apply flock in Ruby Red, Orange Glow, and Sunshine Yellow.  Unfortunately, the colors of ink I used to stamp the leaves match the flock so well that it’s difficult to see the flock on camera.  In person, however, it adds such a wonderful texture!

Framing the Flocked Panel

To frame my panel of flocked trees, I die-cut kraft cardstock with a slimline die from Whimsy Stamps.  After trimming my panel to the same dimensions, I adhered the frame on top with Mixed Media Adhesive.  I attached the framed panel to a white card with Gina K Designs Foam Tape.

I stamped a sentiment from Autumn Wishes onto vellum with Versamark and heat-embossed it.  I trimmed around the sentiment with my scissors, leaving a tiny border, and adhered it to my card with Mixed Media Adhesive.

This next card is my favorite!  I love the swirl background, and the Metallix Gel gives it such a lovely sheen and texture.

Stenciling with Metallix Gel

After spraying the back of the Autumn Wishes stencil with Pixie Spray, I placed it over a 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ panel of white cardstock.  I spread a layer of Champagne Mist Metallix Gel with the Stencil Pal.  To have the design extend the length of the panel, I let the first layer dry and then shifted the stencil over to complete the pattern.

Foiling Stamped Images

For my second card, I decided to embellish with the leaves in the Autumn Wishes set.  I first die-cut white cardstock with the coordinating dies and then stamped the leaves in red, orange, and yellow.  Die-cutting first helps ensure correct placement, which is especially important when adding the details to the leaves.  Once I had finished stamping the leaves, I stenciled the veins with Transfer Gel Blanco.  I allowed the gel to dry fully before using my laminator to apply Rose Gold Deco Foil.

Foil Details without Laminating

For even more bling, I decided to add foil to my cardbase.  I applied strips of Easy-Tear Tape to my card and cut a strip of Rose Gold Deco Foil slightly longer than my card.  After removing the liner from the tape, I placed the foil on top and burnished it with my fingers to transfer the foil.

Putting it All Together

I trimmed down my stenciled panel and adhered it to my card with Gina K. Designs Foam Tape.  I die-cut a label from white cardstock and heat-embossed a sentiment from the Autumn Wishes stamp.  After adhering the label to my card with foam tape, I tucked in the leaves, affixing them with Mixed Media Adhesive at the bases and foam tape at the tips.

All of the metallic accents – the Metallix Gel, the foil and the embossing – play off each other so well and make this simple card so elegant.  You could easily make this a wedding or anniversary card by switching out the sentiment.

Have a great day!
