Hiya scrappy peeps! How is the weather in your neck of the woods? This “winter” here in Virginia has been unseasonably warm. Nice from a wardrobe perspective with minimal layers, if any, needed. Dismal from a snow for memory keeping/scrapbooking fodder perspective! LOL! With a lack of the white fluffy stuff to be found around here lately and with the pressing need to get current stories documented, I opted to use the snow globe a backdrop for the photo and story I wanted to share.

Snow Globe Layout Details

I found some Pinspiration that inspired this cut file. By creating my own file, I was able to manipulate it in way the enabled me to create stencils for the Transfer Gel and Metallix as well as use the digital cutting machine to cut the backing pieces.

The snow of this snow globe is more evident outside the globe than in with White Glitz glitter gel, manual die-cut snowflakes and shimmery sequins gently falling from the sky. Meanwhile, Silver Glitz glitter gel serves for some snowy shimmer at the edges of the globe.

Deco Foil Flock serves to build the scene as the snowy hill that The Homestead (and my family) as nestled upon along with the surrounding trees. The soft texture of the flock mimics the softness of snow and the greenery.

As if that wasn’t enough, a splash of Metallix serves to create the shadowy shimmer of the base of the snow globe. The way that each of these different textures plays a role in the storytelling of this layout is subtle but really packs a punch, don’t you think?

You can see how all this comes together in my video over on YouTube. It’s a tad lengthy (especially for me) but there’s a lot of work involved in this layout, it’s pretty labor-intensive. All the technique is in the first 7ish minutes of the video and the fun embellishing and decorating follows.
