Fabric Corn Pattern

To begin, draw a 6″ x 3.5″ rounded triangle pattern onto a piece of scrap paper to use as a pattern. Or, download a candy corn template pattern from the internet. Fold the cotton print fabric in half, with right sides facing. Pin the pattern onto the fabric and cut around the pattern. Repeat the process with Therm O Web StitchnSew Fleece. For each corn, on the cob, you will need two printed fabric pieces and two fleece pieces.

Fusible Fleece

Keep the printed fabric together with right sides facing. And one piece of the fleece to both the top and bottom, sandwiching the seeds fabric in the middle. Using a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew all the way around the corn, leaving a 2″ opening along the bottom edge. Make small snips into the fabric all the way around, being sure not to cut into the seam. Then turn the corn right side out.

Stuff the corn with polyfill fiber stuffing. Fold the opening inwards, and then stitch a loose gathering stitch around the opening. Cinch the opening closed by pulling on the end of the thread.

Fabric Fuse

Pry the hole open just a bit, and run a line of Fabric Fuse adhesive all around the inner edge. Cut a 1″-1.5″ piece of stick, and insert the stick into the opening before pulling the thread tight and tying it off into a knot.

For the corn husks, download or draw an 8″ x 4″ oval pattern. Trim 1/2″ off one end of the oval.

Corn Husk

Fold the green denim together, with right sides facing, and pin the pattern to the fabric. Cut around the pattern. Repeat the process again with the StitchnSew Fleece. For each corn husk, you will need to denim pieces and one fleece piece. And each ear of corn gets two husks.

Lay the denim fabric together, with right sides facing. Place one piece of fleece on top. Stitch around the husk, leaving the bottom open.

Turn the corn husks right side out. Use a skewer or straw to poke out the edges. Fold the bottom opening inwards, and then stitch across the bottom.

Wrap the corn husks around the ear of corn. Lightly tack with the bottom of the husks to the bottom of the corn cob using two strands of embroidery floss. Tack the back edges of the husks together with one or two simple stitches. Then stitch through the corn on the sides to keep the husks in place.

Then just pile the corn into a bowl or platter and enjoy!
