Welcome Therm O Web Fans, Jenifer here with you today to share these super fun Mermaid Stuffies I created using some Camelot Fabrics. These fun prints from the Kaleidoscope Collection just had to be used as mermaid tails.  Well I am here to tell you that even if you don’t have a Mermaid pattern don’t be afraid to alter a pattern that you already have on hand.  I had this lovely doll pattern that was a ballerina and with a few sketches turned her into a mermaid.

Supplies for the Navy Mermaid:

Deco Foil™ Transfer Adhesive
Heat N Bond® Soft Stretch
Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive
Deco Foil™ Opal Transfer Sheets
Camelot Fabrics Kaleidoscope collection and Fleece

Mermaid Stuffies Instructions:

The Navy Mermaid has some soft Camelot Fleece for her hair.  Use the new HeatNBond® Soft Stretch to help keep her hair soft with just enough stretch to keep everything in place without it being to stiff.  The Soft Stretch works perfectly with fleece.

Cut out half inch strips of fleece and braid them with a piece of sequins ribbons and hand stitch it to the top of her head.  Because these Mermaids have small pieces so they are not recommended for small children, with that being said I also put some paper flowers in her hair for decoration.  Her top has a layer of Opal Deco Foil™ to make it look like the inside of a beautiful seashell.

I thought it would be fun to add some Opal scales randomly on the base of her mermaid tail.  Using the liquid transfer adhesive and a stencil I put on a generous amount of adhesive through the stencil and waited for it to dry and adhered the opal Deco Foil

*do this step before stitching and stuffing the body together.  As a result it will be way easier to apply the Deco Foil with greater success.  Lesson Learned.TooltipText

The purple Mermaid is done with fabric hair and several yards of silk ribbons and pearl strings.  Tie several bows and hand stitch them to the sides of her head like little buns.  Her top is Amethyst Watercolor Deco Foil™ adhered to the adhesive side of a scrap piece of Fusible fleece.
