USA Map Patriotic Pieced Applique Technique

I love just about everything USA or Red, White, and Blue.  You can easily turn just about any shape into a pieced applique pattern.  Taking the shape of the USA, you can make it resemble the flag.

Supplies you will need:

Pieced Applique

Assorted Red, White, and Blue Fabrics – Fabrics used Moda’s Boat House by Sweetwater
HeatnBond® Lite Fusible Adhesive

Step 5:  Trace the upper corner of the USA on to a piece of HeatnBond® Lite Fusible Adhesive.  Cut and remove the inner center of the piece.  This will make the design a little less thick when adding the heart to the center of the piece. Iron it onto a piece of blue fabric. Cut out the design.

Step 6: Iron it onto the pieced red and white piece.

Step 7: Add a heart using HeatnBond® Lite Fusible Adhesive.

Step 8:  Applique stitch around the whole design.

You can complete this technique with various different designs.
