Valentine’s Day is such a fun holiday to decorate for. The hearts and pink and glitter just make my heart swoon! This year I am working on updating all of my Valentine’s Decor to handmade!

My first project I decided to make was a new banner for my sewing room. I wanted it to be girly and show lots of love.

Step 1:

Iron your fat quarters and select two for the pennant and one for the double fold bias banner tie.

Cut your two pennant fat quarters 5″ by WOF. Then subcut to 5″x6″.

Line your 5″x6″ long way up and down. Cut from the middle of the bottom(2.5″ in the middle) to each corner to create your pennant. You will need four of each color to create the L-O-V-E banner.

Step 2:

Take one of each color pennant and place them wrongs sides together (WSF). Using your 1/4″ foot sew around the triangle.

Using your pinking shears cut around the two long sides of your pennant to give a decorative edge.

Step 3:

Cut your banner tie fabric 2 1/2″ x WOF. Sew 2-4 of the strips together on the bias (diagonal) to create your tie.

Create double fold bias. Iron the tie down the middle, short sides together, wrong side together (WST). Open it back up and fold the edges into this new crease and iron. Fold back on the crease originally created and iron.

Step 4:

Cut your letters out of the Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive. You can either free draw your letters, cut them on machine, or print them on paper and trace them onto the Deco Foil™ Hot Melt. Place them on your pennant pieces and heat following the instructions of the heat melt.

Cut your Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheets and place on pennant. Follow instructions to heat up and allow to cool completely before removing.

Step 5:

Take your double fold bias and fold it in half to get the middle. Take each of your pennant pieces and space them in-between the double fold bias with about an inch spacing between each pennant. Pin down and get ready to sew.

Sew on each side of the double fold bias at a 1/4″. Cut the ends with your pinking shears.

Hang up and enjoy!
