Hi y’all!  Becca here from Sunflower Seams.  This weekend my daughter and I had a fun time planning her Valentine’s Day outfit for school this year.  In past years I would usually make something for her and she’d love it no matter what but now that she’s getting older she wants to be a part of the design process.  We spent the morning shopping and found this t-shirt and sequin skirt on sale, then brought it home to embellish.  This project is so easy even my daughter was able to help.

Basic Sewing Supplies

Heart Pocket Instructions

Step One: With your fabric wrong sides together, lay your heart pocket piece on top of the fabric and cut around the pattern piece. Repeat this step for a total of 4 hearts.

Step Two: Sew around the heart using a 1/4” seam allowance, leaving a 2” opening on the side. Clip all the curves, taking care not to clip any stitching.

Step Three:  Turn right side out and press.

Step Four: Place the pocket on the front of your skirt and topstitch around the bottom half, creating a pocket.

Love Shirt Instructions

Arrange the trim on your shirt as desired.  Apply a layer of fabric fuse to the felt then press it into place on the shirt.  **Remember to place a piece of cardboard between the front and back of the shirt before gluing the trim to the shirt.
