We recently shared a scrapbook sketch to celebrate interNational Scrapbook Day and invited our team of designers to join in on the challenge. Scrapbook sketches are not only perfect to yes…make a scrapbook page. But they’re ideal as well to turn into a card. Check out how Ellen used our sketch (see below for the sketch) to create this adorable Birthday Card!

On the two main squares, I used “Deco Foil Transfer Sheets –  Amber Watercolor” with the “Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets – Splatter”. Under that transparency, I layered a paper of the same size with distress ink on. The medium and small sized “Zots” (glue dot’s) where perfect to make the transparency stick on the other rectangle. The text on the sketch was on an other banner and looked like it was two sizes, so I tried to mimic that. I first glued down a die cut word ‘Wish’ out from a “Toner Sheet” with the “Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets – Shattered Glass”. After that I stamped the word big with embossing powder.

After I created the card base, I was doubting to make a coffee card or a pig-birthday card. The last theme won my heart the most and I started coloring the images and placed them on the card.

The last step was to add the little cluster on the left side of the card. I decided to go for stars and hearts cut out from that same “Toner Sheet” with the “Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets – Shattered Glass”. In my opinion the die cutting with the “Toner Sheet” works best as you first foil a piece of that “Toner Sheet” and later cut your images.

Here you can see how the completed card looks.

Normally I don’t work with sketches, I’m really surprised how this turned out! I would love to see your cards and/or layouts!
